found this little marbled gecko in the greenhouse. (returned to resume job as pest control).
too cute.

and this day-flying moth. (translocated to ivy so it doesn't lay eggs on cacti).

Awesome little critters there. I love the mantids... after all, every cactus needs a bodyguard. Cool

yeah.. mantids rock!!! Cool TFS guys.

I tell ya finding these little critters in the greenhouse is a pleasant change from the usual local neighbourhood cats! Evil or Very Mad

The other day I found a dead honey bee, impaled on a TBM spine. not sure whether it had died previously of old age and just happened to fall there or had been alive & well and landed there hoping to catch its breath, then became stuck and died the slow and terrible death which would ensue. death by TBM! Twisted Evil hopefully the former scenario lol.

Looking back at my initial post-that gecko is too cute! nice markings too.

I think he/she has since vacated the gh (or is in hibernation).

Geckos do not seem to be overly common in Melbourne, not near me anyway. Could also be that they are nocturnal, camouflaged, shy and that I'm not actively seeking them out too.

I've since ID'ed that one as Christinus marmoratus - Southern marbled gecko. (which incidently appears to be the only one in Mel, so unless they've escaped from captivity there aren't any other possibilities lol).

I encourage others to post pics of their greenhouse critters in this thread. never know what you might find. Smile

aw look at the little guy... he's hiding his head in shame after being caught in the act of both eating your plant and going to the toilet.. give him some more privacy next time dazza. pereskiopsis is more prone to this than most cause of its juicy leaves.

blowng, yueah i think this is some kind of chimaera as a result of eating a diet of cacti. look at where the hairs/spines originate.. see the areoles. and the body is as juicy as the plant its feeding on.

Shocked

well wouldn't be the first time:

girl becomes cactus.
