| Picked up one of these recently (another Bolivian cactus, looks like there is a pattern emerging ), just wondering about the cultivation as I have never grown them before. I know the basics, beet-like roots, no overwatering, free draining mix, doesn't like a hot greenhouse in the middle of summer, full sun, cool winters. Anything else I need to know about the cultivation of this attractive little cactus? Can't wait to see the flowers. Pics soon. Thanks. |

| | Yeh thats about it trig, just watch out for overwatering. Keep it in a spot where it will cop the cold for winter for better flowering in the warmer seasons. |

| Cheers PD. It gets pretty cold here in winter so should be all good.
Do you cultivate any species from this genus? The S. augustinii seems to have many pups & is growing lots more smaller ones already. Can you use the pups as cuttings, or is it seed propagated only

| S. rauschii is on the must have list for sure but atm i am struggling to find space for anything at all. Once the new shadehouse is up it will make things a lil easier Propagation via pups shouldnt be a problem. |

| Hi there, I have a S Rauchii, growing on a graft and its really doing well. Plucked a couple of pups from it a couple of months ago - last time I had a look one had rooted, but might be keen to swap both.
PD - keen to let you have one if you like...
Trigonus - what about a swap for your variety. Maybe another thread or conversation.
PM me perhaps if either is interested. - one for another version of the Sulcrorebutia (S. augustinii) or something.

| Will give it a go PD. It certainly pups prolifically, so i don't stand to lose much if it doesn't succeed. I too was after S. augustinii and it looks like we both found one. Thanks Calycium. Definitely keen to grab an S.rauschii pup. will be keen to swap a S. augustinii pup. What is your main plant grafted onto? Will PM you abou the trade shortly, much appreciated. _________________ mmm spikey... |

| Not sure what it is grafted on - sadly paid a small fortune for it on ebay last year. The guy said it was a below ground graft. Whatever it is, it is quite prolific. Depending on how happy tou are with size, will be happy to swap - certainly don't want to send something too small to be fair. See if I can take a photo of the pups tomorrow after work - but have added my S Rauchii photo from last year.
photo of it added to album... see how I go at linking to it from here.

cheers Calycium
