| I used to have some wonderful epiphyllium sp a few years ago... My brother kept a couple of cuttings, but he's not in Aussie 
They're an awesome plant and the flowers were as big as dinner plates. One year I got 6 flowers. They were gigantic!
What's more they love the shade, enjoy being watered and even seem to take to some NPK fertilisers in very low doses.
They're ugly unfortunately. They get very messy very quickly. But the flowers are just amazing.
I'll see if I can get my brother to post a few photos of the flowers. I had two, one was bright bright red the other never flowered, but I was told they were white.
If you have some pics of the flowers, or even cuttings you'd like to sell, I'd be very interested. They really are my favourite of all flowering plants! |

| i got come cuttings off my grandfather a few months ago. just checked on them then and a few are gettting ready to flower.
I will post pics when they come out |

| I've just sent an order through at cactus-seeds.com for some epiphyllium - so it will be very interesting to see what new hybrids they have on the market. Should suit the tropical conditions up here.
Will keep you posted as they grow (hopefully). |

| | Hey Slimy I have quite a few Epiphyllums including E. oxypetallum, E. hookeri, E. anguliger, E. crenatum which are all nocturnal and fragrant. I also have a few spectacular hybrids, Orange, Pink & purple, pink & white etc. Pm me if you would like some cuttings. |

| Do you grow any of those hybrids with dinner plate sized flowers CH? They look really amazing when in flower.

| None that large although I have a Selenicereus with flowers larger than a dinner plate. Did you know that Epiphyllums will cross with Hylocereus? we all know how large Hylo flowers can get. Im sure you could get some nice inter-generic hybrids outa doing that.
Personally the colourful hybrids don't interest me that much, they usually lack the fragrance of the nocturnal species, But I'd still be impressed by a dinnerplate sized flower on an epi, that's fo sho! |

| The epi's I had had no fragrance at all - so maybe they were a cross. I just relied on what my ex's grandmother told me when she gave me the cuttings. But the flowers looked so amazing. I'm looking forward to getting back into epi's - or as the case may be starting into epi's!

No I didn't know that. Could be very interesting that. Did you know they cross Epiphyllum sp. with Discocactus sp.? Very cool.
That Selenicereus sp. sounds good, might hit you up for a cut next season if any is available.
Yeah i think the huge Epi hybrids are more for show than smell. Amazing flowers visually though.

Discocactus sp. or Disocactus sp?

| A typo that appears to be very common on the internet and in the literature. In future can you please attempt to correct misinformation in a more polite manner, while contructive criticism is encouraged, rudeness isn't. The wording left a little to be desired. I can see you are a knowledgable character and can obviously bring alot to this forum, though your, at times, dubious wording of posts could be misinterpreted by some people as a little offensive.

I wasn't trying to be rude/offensive, typos happen all the time. In fact i was HOPING that it wasn't a typo, you could prove me wrong and there actually is such thing as a Discocactus x Epiphyllum!! it would be AWESOME!!! |

| | Slimy I got most of mine, about 16 hybrids from a guy who does the yungaburra markets. He has lots more than that i just wasnt allowed to spend any more on "useless" plants Ie. plants that dont produce a worthwhile fruit like E. oxypetalum mmmmmm lemony. |
