I got this as a tiny plant a couple years ago labelled pachanoi but the spines are growing so big I'm thinking it must be a peruvianus or something else. Any ideas?

Definitely not a T. pachanoi. Looks more peruvianoid, could be a hybrid. Probably Trichocereus macrogonus.

Nice looking cactus.

I was thinking it was one of those "KK242", the blueish epidermis threw me off a bit, mine are all pretty dark green. Bone coloured mature spines.

It is starting to look really nice. It could be a hybrid, it could be anything! I picked it up at Bunnings but It came from Hamiltons who are a bit funny with their tags sometimes. They prolly just threw in the pachanoi tag to move it out the door. So how long a spine can a long-spine pachanoi get anyway... Not that long right?

KK is Karel Knize a European collector who lives in Peru. The numbers "242" are collection numbers. Alot of confusion has arisen from his collection numbers over time, but some credit must be given to him as he put Trichocereus sp. on the map in a really big way. There are alot of other genera included in his numbering system too though.

There is even a rare cactus species named in his honour Cintia knizei.

Here is a link to his page: http://www.cactusknize.com/
