PostSubject: trich pach or scop?   Tue Sep 01, 2009 1:33 am

hi cacti comrades, i came by this great beast and just had to stop
i managed to get the last fruit off it (what was left by the birds(?)) & i also got a little pup

going from some id guides i think its a pach but my friend thinks definitely a scop.
i dont think ive ever seen a big scop so i cant really tell.
does anyone have an opinion?

...first time i am posting image here so fingers crossed it works

It's hard to say without seeing a flower, but based on the form i would say it's a pachanoi. I say this based on the spacing and angle of the areoles.

Someone else might have another opinion.

Yep most definitely a Trichocereus Pachanoi and a very nice one at that. Trichos really are a beautiful sp.

ya, a T pachanoi.

real scopulicolas doesn't have spines. well that's not true, they do, but the areoles are indented so the spines are harmless and hardly noticeable.
also scops are really really fat when they get tall.

P.S. You have the best avatar ever IMO. Very Happy
