I was thinking the same thing - where my wife
walks the dogs I've noticed some big ants nests - I haven't collected any yet
but it does look good. Also there is a massive hedge of Opuntia
which I'm experimenting with - so far I have a success rate of 2/3
grafting with astrophytum. I have recently done some more
that have yet to show success/failure.

Hi lewis,
the Hakuun is grafted onto a Hylocereus which was really badly sunburnt. two of the three sides of the Hylocereus have died but the third seems to be doing ok. this happened about 6 months ago or thereabouts. The Hakuun seems to be ok at the moment.
I have another Hakuun which was degrafted - I left a small part attached and its pupping like mad.

unfortunatly I didn't grow these from seed- they were all purchased. )

ah okay. looked like rot from where i am sitting. keep an eye on it, if it is just sunburn it will, probably, recover, if not either re- or degraft. with the degrafted one did it root readily?
and what is the loph graft next to the hakuun?? looks quite healthy.

p.s am i blind or do i notice an apparent lack of Gymnos in your collection? not to worry i will have to post heaps of flower pics in summer to convert you + HN to the dark side. Twisted Evil Twisted Evil Smile

Cheers. Hey I have noticed the oldest head (the wooly one) on the C. hypo looks like it might be cresting scratch or is that just normal growth? Anyone know?

Not that experienced with the species or even the genus.

Trig I don't think it will crest. This look is due to the crowding. I have seen this in several of my plants and they don't usually crest. But it is possible.

Cheers HN. I will keep my eye on it nonetheless, maybe I should thin out the clump a bit? It has (estimate) around 50+ pups on it.

Unfortunately it didn't root easily - It dehydrated and became very
concave and then rotted at the first sign of any moisture (my own
fault) I'm not too keen to degraft this one.
The grafted loph next to it is just a williamsii . It has been
steadily growing for while and has just erupted with several pups about to
burst. Great little plant Smile

well i've found gymnos to be more addictive than astrophytums and mexican minis, so with a bit of luck it will rub onto you guys. Wink

i got a new one yesterday, G.buenekeri. it's been on my wish list for ages. $4.50!

Great pics Plantsoma! Welcome to ACF.

Not sure what species of Echinopsis you have there, but I love those flowers.

Those San Pedro look ghostly, interesting effect. I take it that you have edited in photoshop perhaps?

Enjoy the forums.
