| well here it is:
 (sorry about the extremely dodgy pic quality, cam doesn't have macro) mammillaria luethyi @ 2 days old 1/5 aint to bad, rather i am surprised anything germinated at all, given this species' reputation. |

| hmm hopefully a couple more will germinate. Its much better than my predicted 0/5! lol its only been under one week. |

| well its still around. no new seedlings though, just the one.
check out this: http://www.flickr.com/photos/lauii8/sets/72157602590284285/ look at the dates these photos were taken, its a phenomenal growth rate. a year!

I thought it was just a standard 'ball' shaped mamm. wow - thats an amazing plant... once you get some size you could try cutting off and grafting each 'arm' maybe.. ? |

Indeed. In the wild it is a very tiny plant, and it was originally thought to be a Pelecyphora or Turbinicarpus.

The 'arms' are tubercles like those found on any other Mammillaria, just more pronounced than in most. These can be grafted and will produce offsets but it's probably physically easier to graft the whole plant and regraft the offsets produced. |
