| I have a Mammillaria Hahaniana (long haired form) from Lester Myers. will check flower buds tomorrow, noticed that there is something happening regards this plant but too little time lately to spend time looking. will be good to compare hair length. |

| Great photo Betty - I love the detail of your close ups.
I have a Lithop Rubra almost in flower - I'll do my best when they burst and see how they go and post. |

| Betty, I'll grow a couple for you if you want and post them when they are way too small to normally sell. (L.Rubra) waiting for the flowers to grow - guessing a week tops |

| This is one of my oldest cacti or I should say one of the first I bought that is still alive Cool......... mamm leuthyi that is a nice one. I think Lewis has sown seeds of this as well. I have tried aztikium a few times and I can not get them to do anything Good luck with the seeds.............no green dots tonight (I had to check and I blamed you lol) The camera will come out at the first sign of anything _________________ Betty

| Cal you are like me, getting into seeds and plants of rare stuff. add to your wish list Cintia knizei if you haven't already. http://www.cactus-art.biz/schede/CINTIA/Cintia_knizei/Cintia_knizei/Cintia_knizei.htm and perhaps rarest of all, Yavia cryptocarpa: http://www.bcss.org.uk/yavia.pdf http://www.cactus-art.biz/schede/YAVIA/Yavia_cryptocarpa/Yavia_cryptocarpa/Yavia_criyptocarpa.htm you have Mamm luethyi seeds? cool.. good luck, this is notorious for poor germination. i put 5 seeds in my prop recently but no germination yet, still early days. the reason put forward for the poor germination rate is that the genetic pool outside Mexico is very small. In Europe it is becoming more common and is propagated vegetatively by grafting. Conviently our friends at AQIS have not heard of the plant and it is not a permitted species, which rules out importation of plant material and subsequent grafting. The low genetic diversity found in European stocks is because most specimens are vegetative propagates from one, illegally collected, specimen. The plant should actually not be in cultivation at all because it was discovered many years after the declaration of mexico's cactus exportation ban and it is covered by CITES regulations. it needs to cross pollinate with genetically-unidentical plants to get high viability seed. |
