| I have several takeaway containers I used to germinate Echinocactus, Mammillaria and Lithops species that I sowed about 4 weeks ago. Most of the seeds have germinated and I was just wanting to find out at what point I should take the lid off. Or is it best to leave the lids on until they get a little bigger. Any advise much appreciated. |

| You can leave the lid on for months if you wish to. As long as the seedlings are happy and no fungi is growing leave them. I and others I know have kept them in baggies for 6 months and some longer. _________________ Betty

| I'd leave them on until just before they reach the top, (if they are tall) or with the case of the mams - until they have some spines - then let some air in to harden them off.
Lithops - don't let them get too wet and they will be fine - there is a point when they suddenly don't like the extreme moisture. I would err on the side of caution with them. |
