Hypocotyl grafting

OK...

I just did my fist loph to trich pach hypocotyl graft... interesting that it is basically just chopping the scion off and the top off the stock and putting them on while they are still seedlings... I'll be interested to see if it really is that easy...

Does anyone have any links to some good hypocotyl graft info? All i've done is google and go from there - this was the main one i found, so i took my info from that Smile

I hadnt heard of this one. After reading the link i was intrigued and had a look on google. You may have seen these but:

I have a few seedlings starting now and im tempted to give it a whirl myself.. how old were your seedlings when you did the graft?

the seedlings are probably about 60 days old, if not a bit longer, i think they stunted a bit during the winter...

I'll be heading off for a week, so once i get back, i'll be able to get some pics of the graft,... if successful, i'll be doing a heap more, of not, will need to research a bit more... I have heaps of trich pachs growing about the same age, and enough lophs to get a suffiecient trial happening...

My optunias are getting bigger atm, and i have a compressa style one ready to take pups from, so will try this as well... Will keep updated...

I guess i should call this thread, gilligan's frankenstinian attempts at grafting... all i need now is a lightning bolt or two... Smile

hmmmm... initial stages look promising... hasn't started to wilt yet, and it doesn't fall off when i poke it with a stick (yeah, i can't leave things alone... Smile

) will update with more results next weekend...

I tested once seedling-on-seedling grafting using super kabuto, 40 days old seedling.
The grafting was not so difficult but growing was very slow. I think stock was too small.

ok, two have taken out of 5, those little fricking bugs thatcant be killed ate out the graft bit
i'l get some pics soon. The interesting thing is that i took the top off a super pedro x pach seedling, and put a loph on it, took the top from the SP pach and whacked it on the loph root - they both took! should be interesting to see growth on the loph base pach...
