Anyone know what these are? They were sold as a Trichocereus pachanoi, but they don't look like it to me.

Whenever I have grown Pachinoi from seed it looks like this and it stays that spiny even when bigger. It is also a more of a blue colour and thicker stem as it gets older compared to the commonly circulated clone. I start to wonder if the common clone has a bit of Scop blood in it. A friend who has visited habitat says he saw plants that look like the less spiny clone and others as spiny as a Bridgesi can get. Is it possible that they are all one species with variability from different locations or altitude.

Actually I have got two Pachinoi seedlings that look just like this. I thought maybe the seeds had been labelled incorrectly.

in reference to different location and altitude...i can believe that after seeing the difference in my peri from inside to the hothouse there is quite a lot of difference. i cant see why other plants wouldn't also vary with location!
