And the highlight for me at this spot, my first in habitat Epithelantha micromeris. And a nice multi headed plant at that...

And nestled amongst the rocks, an Epithelantha complete with seed pod. I wouldn't think the pods would last long out here as the red stands out amongst all the white and grey !

Onward ho and we finally made our way into Texas... Our first stop, a rather unassuming cutting on a highway pretty much in the middle of nowhere...

Well, we were looking for perhaps the most famous ..or infamous... cactus of all, and one many people reading this are growing...

Here it is - What you can't see it ? Yep, they're tough to see. Here's a clue - Look about an inch up from the bottom, slightly right of centre...

Yes, this was the land of the Peyote, Lophophora williamsii ! There were probably a dozen or so plants at this spot. Some reasonable sized ones also..

It was fantastic to see this plant in the wild, it's kind of one of those wow moments if you're a Cactus freak like me and this multi head plant was very extra nice..

That's an Ariocarpus ! Again, this was the first sighting for me in the wild, a nice big Ariocarpus fissuratus ! And we only found the one at this locality...strange...
But over the next few days we'd see literally hundreds of these guys....so stay tuned !
