PostSubject: Flowering rebutias in Brisbane?   Mon Aug 30, 2010 10:58 pm

Hi all,

As I understand it, rebutias need a good cold winter to flower in spring. As we are lucky enough to rarely get below 0 in Brisbane, is there any rebutias which will grow happily with a cool, not cold winter?

Or am I completely wrong and cold is not as important as dry?

Thanks for any help.

Not sure that Rebutias are all that fussy about having a cold winter myself...I know the Abbey Brook book says they need it, but I have a couple in the greenhouse which doesn't get below 8C in Winter and they flower fine come spring...dry is a definite though, for my plants at least, nothing from April to Septemberish..
