Hello, i'm new to cacti but would love some advice on what types people reccomend. I love the flowering, barrel and cacti with 'arms' any help is appreciated!

Hi BREE,
Important to understand the growing conditions for the diverse range of cacti before you spend to much cash.
Perhaps you can make a list of Genera you like and get some more specific advise.
Great group of plants to grow and sure you will have a ball.

Cereus or some of the brazilian Pilosocereus should do well
perhaps even Neobuxbaumia in a well drained spot.

I agree shortly... if i could, id get right into the Brazillian columnars they are exquisite but do not do well in my climate with ease... Austrocephalocereus dybowskii perhaps

Cephalocereus/Backbergia militaris would have to be the ultimate for wow factor.

Yeah i doubt Piloso's would take wet feet in winter or prolonged cold very well.
And i imagine frost would see them go the the great garden in the sky rather quickly.

But isn't that what glasshouses are for?
