PostSubject: The cactus patch!   Mon Jan 07, 2013 9:10 pm

Hi everyone,
Finally finished organizing my cactus patch so I thought I'd throw a few pics up.

(If anyone is wondering, yes, the other plants on the left suffer greatly in the heat.)

Nice work ! very tidy indeed and not a weed in sight. You're a better gardener than me, god I'm struggling with a particular strain of clover this year. Got it last season from a potted plant from Coffs Harbour NSW, very intrusive little weed and it spreads like nothing else.

Thanks hellonasty! A friend of mine has a similar problem with a strange little fern-like plant that spreads like wildfire. It looks good on bondsai pots but over runs his cacti.

Post a pic of the clover. I'm an agricultural seed wholesaler by 'trade' so there's a good chance I could I.D. it for you.

Yes it's a very nice well kept collection!
Is the hold down material you are using for the graft grafting tape? Funny but I'd never thought to use that before despite its name making it kinda obvious what it is for!

hahaha yeah it is grafting tape. I thought it would be sticky but its not. Its just stretchy so you can get good pressure on the graft. Pretty tricky to get set right without help.

Also just a small suggestion for you last graft. You will find better growth rate if you either cut the other growing tips off the plant, or graft another TBM to them Very Happy This helps to focus the growing energy of the plant towards your graft rather than growing large branches.

Thanks. I never thought of that but unfortunately the graft didn't take. When I had a closer look at it I didn't get the growth rings lined up properly so I'll re-cut and try it again this weekend.
