| I have sent a newsletter out to all the members. Now I have to say it ended up being a lot more difficult than expected, problems with HTML, problems with the host site not recognising the HTML images, problems with certain emails not accepting the newsletters, problems here, problems. I have never sent a newsletter before so hopefully next months edition will give me more joy. Please let me know if it arrived safely, what you think of it etc. etc. feedback is good and that's what this particular forum is about so...you get it? The sending format ended up being far from ideal and will work on this for next month, also we are offering a customised email account (that most people didn't actualy seem to want), it would be yourname@auscactiforum.net, this would provide a bit more anonimity to the post out, but that is a n issue with you as members not accepting your customised email and also not customising your profile for your customised email account. Now that's alot of customising fying about there. this ended up being more of a rant than expected. Yeah...so...ACF newsletter, sink your teeth into it and post feedback please. Thanks. trigonus _________________ コレクタ

| Hey trig... I didn't know what to expect... but I was quite pleasently suprised I very much prefer the .pdf file with pics though. Some awesome pictures won't ever go a miss. It's great to see you with so much passion for this, it's awesome. Be careful not to 'spam' people - make sure they have a choice to opt out of newsletters though. I have started a folder to collect newsletters I now have an original haha. And if you need help with writing articles, I am more than keen to add to this. Just PM me or put a message - Newsletter articles due a week or so before it's ready to run out. Keep up the awesome work! Cheers slim |

| Yeah not sure if i can opt in? I just assumed that if members have joined up they will want the newsletter, I won't be sending to anyone else but members here so can't see a real problem. Members can just let me know if they don't want it sent, it's more personal that way anyway. I prefer the personal approach and I think this comes across in the forum and the newsletter. Thanks for the positive feedback. Feel free to write an article and submit it, ultimately I like to put the whole thing together over a month, looks professional that way _________________ コレクタ

| Actually, one other thing Everyone's email addy appeared on my email (the .pdf one). Be careful there too Probably BCC all emails so others can not see anyones emails. I personally don't mind, everyone here is friends... And no one here can't email me. But... You know how it is... people get anal about certain things. I look forward to writing my first article then |

| Yeah that's why I suggest everyone signs up for a customised email account as mentioned in the first post on the subject. If people want the account they will have to ask for one though, because we offered a complimentry account and most didn't bother using it or signing in. I am aware of this problem and really didn't want to send the newsletter in such a way but as stated there was many problems and I just wanted to get it out there. There is a newsletter feature associated witht this forum but when I did it, it wouldn't work correctly and then it wouldn't show the images. If anyone knows about such things please don't hesitate to let me know. Also I am not as computer savvy as some might assume and my knowledge is somewhat limited any help ios appreciated really. _________________ コレクタ

BCC is blind carbon copy - what email program did you use to send the newsletter?
For example I use Firefox, when you go to send a message click on the drop box where it says "To" and swap that to BCC and add the addresses that way. That stops everyone seeing anyones email addy. |

| Thanks Betty. Am glad you liked it. I am hoping that you do a nice article on Lithops or Conophytum for us some time. You seem to very into those.
Hmm looks like the PDF is going to be a popular format, will either try figure out the BCC, or just send them induvidually. My email client is Gmail (customised Gmail account). _________________ コレクタ
