Its definitely a Conophytum. They are winter growers and flower in autumn. It could be one of a few sp's. I am leaning towards C. meyerii.

This I photo I just took

These two from early March, before I actually watered them after their summer dormancy. They are sometimes called Little Dumplings and are of the Mesembryanthemaceae family or Mesembs for short. Great little plants that don't take up much room. In winter when they are plump don't water as they can split. You will feel or see them deflate a little. Water them then. As it starts to warm up the stop taking water and sheath over and you don't water them then. Some do give them a quick spray occasionally.

Hope I haven't confused you too much Very Happy

Sorry forgot let them get a little morning sun, all mine are in a couple of hours morning sun all year Smile

$4 sounds like a good price. Wish Bunnings here would get something decent Rolling Eyes

Hornet just ask if you are ever not sure what to do with it. Some people I know have a lot of trouble with them and I am really not sure why

Calycium do you know what one you have?

I just realised there is a toadstool growing in my pot.............magic mushrooms lol!

actually, Betty, I don't.... I (cringe) bought it on eBay a while back last year and I almost killed it. Have split it into two pots, but each globule is the size of a pea with a crease in the middle. Its green, and has last years old skin that has died on it. Have to find a pic and post it so you can have a look.
