 Digi Seeds Follow their progress

Decided to do a post to keep everyone up to date on the seeds of Astrophytum caput-medusae.

Seeds Planted on Sunday afternoon 22nd June.

10 seeds per pot using the baggie method and put on a heat mat with thermostat set at 26C with lights on for 16 hours per day.

No action Saturday morning 28th June

Germination sighted Saturday night at 7pm the 28th June..............Whoopeee!!!!!!!!!!

Amazing little fella's not even a day old and they have character Smile

Wasn't till I took the photos that I could see it. I have eight up so far from 40 planted cheers

Good looking pics Betty, and they look so healthy. 3 cotyledons seems abnormal but I wouldn't complain - you should have your first tubercle by the end of the week.

Well they say 5 to 10 % will come up with 3 cotyledons and no difference noticed with growth.

Cool Betty! Hahaha i remember me and Lewis were talking about caput-medusae awhile ago, guess you beat me to getting one hahahahahaha.
How long would it roughly be before they are a decent size?

some years at least, unless they are grafted. It is supposed to be not hard to grow.

Betty graft some to pereskiopsis next spring, although its probably a good idea if you haven't tried before to practise on common seedlings rather than potentially waste digi seedlings!
