I'm in sydney for a while. I'm going to go to the western suburbs cactus club meeting this friday, is anyone else on the forum going to be there? it'd be great to put some faces to names.

Whilst I'm here can anyone reccomend a good way to get there via public transport?

I wont be there, but wouldn't mind catching up with you for a beer or a chat or a beer and a chat if your'e in Sydney. How long are you up here mate?

Not sure where the meet is, but if you give me a general idea I can probably help with some public transport details.

It's a bummer though because I sort of know prier and was hoping to catch up with him and discuss a project we were working on about a year ago and meet him in person. Oh well.

I'm staying in Avalon, and after looking at some maps I don't think I'll get to the meeting. Looks like it would be a huge trip. Unless anyone else fancies going, and could drive part of the way. I can offer some cacti seed as an incentive.

Beer sounds great, I'm going to be in sydney till wednesday morning. Trig, I'm guessing you must be tonic. I never made the connection. I'll send you a pm with my phone number so we can catch up whilst I'm here.

When I'm on my way back to Melbourne, I'm going to stop by sydney again, I really want to go to at least one cacti society meeting on my journey.

Maybe a few of us could meet up for beers this weekend then?

Yeah that's a good idea prier, there is a decent cacti section at the botanic gardens.

That would probably be the best place to meet I reckon. What time suits you?

Damn! I was just told that I need to help my mum out on Monday. Looks like i'm not going to be able to catch up afterall. What a pain.

That sucks, what about tuesday? that'll be my last day in sydney. i can try and finish work early and get into the city by 5. give me a call if you're free. you've got my number.
If anyone else wants to meet up tomorrow. I'm still going to go and check out the cacti at the botanic gardens, I'll be there around midday. Look out for the guy with ginger dreads staring intensly at the cacti.

the Bot. gardens are great. I have pics from march this year. make sure you go straight to the Cactus and succulent section
and if you are lucky time wise you might meet "friends of the gardens". I heard that they are happy to help our with cuts and also there is a retail section some days but limited times. perhaps call first to get the best time of day. I just missed out. easy walk up to the section , just watch out for the sign postings. Enjoy!!
