| anyone confident on ID of this cactus . . white stuff is something sticky that landed on the plant. Plant has some damage from being neglected and outside but hopeful for new growth and the flower is alright.

| Yes. It's a Trichocereus huascha Syn Echinopsis huascha or even Trichocereus Grandiflorus. Beautiful flower. |

| thanks Hellonasty, thats what I was coming up with too when researching . good to get a second opinion . I looked agian this morning and the spines get longer as the plant gets taller. so even the shorter spined pics on the web could still be the same plant. I reckon that mine must be about 8 to 10 years old going by the age of rest of the collection that has ID labels with details of purchase and seller details. |

| Gracie,
T. Huascha grows rapidly. 10 years seens too old. How tall is it ? Looks about 30-40cm. At that height I would expect it to be no more than 5years.
I can't id the second one without a few more, better quality, pics. Close up of spination, epidermis and flower if possible.
Yeah cal That flower is awesome. |

| no probs. camera is back in action so I'll get some updated photos , that one was taken to keep a record of sorts while I potted up the trailer load . The plant with the red flower is about 30 cm tall it had been sitting under a porchway with no water for quite some time. a senicio articulartis has only just started to make fresh growth and that was from end Oct 07, was two little sections in a pot with nothing else . i had hoped they were the more rounded ones but no, just the common one. I guess that leaves me a bit more space now for a nice cactus. |
