They're amazing!

Its something of an inspiration too. I reckon I'd like to go and try and create a hybrid myself! What did you use as a stock plant?

Yeah, more photos would be great!

And also, just out of curiosity, have you ever tried producing F2 plants?

I do not know why you could not see pictures but it might be the post was too old.
I did not create Astrophytum hybrids lately, only one species last year.

Astrophytum capricorne v niveum x asterias cv super kabuto
Sown seeds on 28/08/2010
Since capricorne and asterias are differnet flowering groups, many unusual (varigated) seedlings related crossing stress were germinated.
I just grafted 2 seedlings only, one was normal one and the other was varigated one.
This photo is the normal one, taken photo this morning.

I found one more photo of Astrophytum hybrid.
coahuilense x asterias cv super kabuto, sown seeds in 2005 own-root
Since coahuilense and asterias are same flowering group, yellow petals and orange throat, no crossing stress is occured.
I took this photo on 17th last month.

Lachy

I think niveum is one of nice Astrophytum species. I could imargin the hybrid appearance before crossing.
Some of them become as my imagenation, as shown on the photo.

Many of them do not.
I am away home now but I can attached the photo soon.
