I took these pics about a week ago, I had been waiting expectantly to see this since the buds first showed back in winter.

it was pipped at the post by the yellow form, these buds begun to appear in July, but the cool weather slowed 'em down a bit.

G'day Michael, the purple colour is beautiful, that's why it's more readily available than the yellow... (market driven).

Ho! Another Tasmaniac!

I wonder how many of us there are here?

I like the purple and the yellow. I have always liked Parodia, even though I tend to collect rarer plants this genus has always held an attraction for me, especially since they have such nice blooms.

Good work mate.

Just you two I think WD. Though there may be more. You could have a look through the memberlist for locations?

There used to be about twenty or so here on the coast, but over the years they've either moved on, stopped collecting, or dropped off their perch.

Thanks Trigonus, I also have a soft spot for Parodias. While I can often find species like these once found under the name Notocactus for sale here, the same can't be said for the old true Parodia species, they just don't seem to come down to this part of the Atlas.
