Maybe it's the angle of the photo, but that looks rather crested to me. It certainly has an unusual appeal to it...

Like you said, I think the angle makes it look like there is a crest.

Well I have grafted the smallest pup to a Tricho Spachianus. In regards to the crest. It was looking very much like doing so but suddenly the growing tip reformed and appears to be growing normally. A crest is still very possible, just above the growing tip in the picture there is a small section that is growing, this is very unusual and who knows what will happen.
