I'm new here, but have been lurking around for quite a while. Your original idea got me interested so I tried my own grafts. The multiple grafts do grow slower than single grafts, but not by much. (In my hands anyways.)

Looks like a nice graft, that pere sure is producing a lot of that fuzzy white fur. When did you do graft that one ? were they all together or over a period of time ?

yes! thats the white wooly peresk i've seen before. The one i have doesn't do that. maybe thats ^ a different type? or maybe wool development depends on conditions?

I believe it is more an environmental issue lewis. Some of my Pere's especially grown outdoors in shade will produce that fuz. Funny thing is they don't any more ???

All these multiple graftings are very inspiring. I did try one with some Astros this season, but one (of two) died off. Will definitely try again next season. Keep up the good work and experimenting people.

So on the Pereskiopsis, I think I have two forms of the plant (they are from two different people at least). This particular form is rather woolly. The other form I have has smaller leaves, less wool and many more spines. Both plants have been grown under a strong CFL since I got them last fall. I'm curious to see how they change under normal sun this coming spring.

As for the scions, the largest one has been complete for maybe a few months now. After that first graft, the Peres of course sent up a shoot. I let it grew and grafted on to it. I then repeated it a few times. The smallest scion was just done 2-3 weeks ago.

As to the wool on your Pereskiopsis... it's my experience that the wool seems to form more readily on plants that are grown in high humidity. I've heard it suggested that the wool may in fact be aerial roots.

Lachy, your humidity theory seems like a possibility!! But I can confirm they are not aerial roots. Peres send out serial roots regularly especially in humid environments, ask watertrade, pere roots are much thicker and look like....well roots I think lewis had a few aerial roots also.
