PostSubject: Frailea castanea   Sat Nov 08, 2008 7:32 am

I have not been able to see any posts for Frailea. I do not have many Frailea species but the photo, castanea is one of my collections. I think this is a cultivar, growing to quite large single head. I sowed seeds September 2004 and the current diameter is 5.2 cm. I repotted yesterday.

Very very nice Hanaz! I have one Frailea grahliana, though it's recovering from too much sun and the previous owners neglect. I will endevour to get some pics up when it improves.

The genus doesn't seem overly popular in Aus, not sure why? They are nice plants.

That is a beautiful little plant HN, and yours too Michael, I have tried growing this little beauty, but so far have managed only to watch it's demise... any secrets to growing it?

My Plants never like it when I'm negative Michael. If I'm not sure one of my plants will survive, I just make sure not to mention it in the same room as it.
All my plants need love to do well and I challenge anyone to argue it.
I'm sure she will be fine with some love and care .Razz

PostSubject: seedlings of castanea   Wed Nov 12, 2008 9:48 am

I do not pay special attention for castanea but keeping under soft sunlight as same as other cactus seedlings. Too strong sunlight may stop the growing of seedlings. The photo is seedlings of castanea, sown seeds on 30/09/06.
I keep 25 seedlings in a 10 cm square pot and diameter of each seedling is around 1.5 cm. These seedings are waiting to repot into 50 mm square tube.
