@ lewis: we do not have a big experience on grafting tubercles (we are a bit lazy and made only few attempts...). This type of grafting was made after the discover of this new plant, in order to develop fast this new plant. But with this method you can obtain clones of the same plant. We prefered to buy some grafted plants and obtain seeds from them, since own roots plants are different clones and much fascinating that grafted plants. The best stock for this plant seems to be ferocactus glaucescens. The plant in the picture is grafted on echinopsis. @ MichaelCactus and Vicki: thanks!

Carlo & Daniele, is it more common amongst collectors in Italy to sell plant already grafted. Also, are there many collectors in Italy that you know of? Like a society or something like that.

Hello KanJe, grafted cacti are common amon astro cultivar, since grafting is the only way to develop fastly these uncommn plants. Other plants are usually on own roots. About societies, on the web there are some forums, for example: http://www.cactus-co.com/forum/index.php http://www.panarottocactus.net/phpBB2/index.php carlo & daniele
