| Hello! These are some of our seedlings of koh-yo(on the left) and kikko koh-yo(on the right) sowed distinguishing the seeds for motherplant. The motherplants are begininning changing colour but one of them, the biggest one, is still totally green. That's interesting fact! carlo & daniele |

| It's a new cultivar and its behaviour is not very well known. From our experience seedlings change colour according to seasons when they are young, but in this period (winter here) also some of our motherplants are changing their colours. According to Hanazono only very big plants (15 cm) do not change colour, and they remain green all the sesons. However they can tranfer the "koh-yo gene" by seed. We took this photo a month before the first we posted. You can see the changing of the colours of seedlings: | KanJe wrote: | | Will these change colour with maturity or not. | Thanks C&D, I wasn't sure. Astrophytums as you know are common for changing colour during different seasons due to stress. I guess I was hoping this wasn't the case. |

How do your plants handle those kind of conditions?
Do you find you get many casualties even with the protection of the green house? |

| We keep the plants in a heated greenhouse. The delicates ones are pereskiopsis and hylocereus grafts; seedlings can pass the winter dry and in good conditions if they are not too young. In spring we will check the casualties, but we hope they will be not too much; however few dead plants is a normal condition. carlo & daniele |

| sad. But most of them are still looking really good. I'd be happy with so many seedlings.
Noticed your seed trays. I have found that mine have done better without drain holes where I can keep the humidity up during their first hot summer of 55+ degrees Celsius. Many of my others have become too dry and died.
Do you use open or closed trays (like in the pics) to raise all your seedlings? Or just for the arios? |

Hi! I do not understand the meaning... here in Italy now is winter and this cultivar (koh-yo) become very colourful with sunlight and low temperature. |
