I would love to also see what plant you are taking tubecles off. I was speaking to a friend and he told my kotso is also possible from tubercles. I now have to prepare some stocks, unfortunately my peres are outside and they are still sleeping, too early to take cuttings.

I have started to try Ariocarpus tubercle grafting with 2 ways. I think I can see some result next spring. Scions are retusus v major cv mitsuibo (tri-fingers). 1. Pereskiopsis stock I did same way with Pereskia grafting. 2. Myrtillocactus stock I used super-glue.

I only have two small mature Ariocarpus right now, so I can't try this yet, but it is good to see how it is done.

Hana, did you use a spine to hold the scion on the Pereskiopsis? And is that a straight cut, or a V cut?

The method of grafting used Pereskiopsis stock is as followa: 1. Cut end of Pereskiopsis as a wedge shape 2. Make a slit on the cutting end of the scion (tubercle) 3. Insert the wedge into the slit 4. Hold the scion using a cactus spine (Stick a spine through the tubercle and the stock)
I used this method for Pereskia graftings years ago. |
