PostSubject: Unlabeled Mam?   Wed Jan 07, 2009 3:15 pm

Hi all, I'm windmill and I'm a cactiholic. *applause.. "hi windmill"..* ah thats better.
Looking forward to learning very much from this fine forum! study

So here is what I consider a beautiful specimen which I assume to be a Mammillaria. Picked up from good ol' Collector's Corner the other day..

Any ideas on an Id?

It also had a nice pup on the side which I eagerly cut off without really thinking.. Now it's sitting in course sharp sand which I shall keep moist. Any opinions on this method would be appreciated! Will it even work?
I was hoping some roots would develop and I would then transplant to potting mix..

Welcome to the ACF windmill. Smile

At a guess I'd say M. mystax don't know Mamms too well though.

Nice lookin' plant though, very healthy.

I'm tossing up between magnimamma and compressa, leaning towards compressa ssp. centralifera.

A Mamm. worthy of a place in any collection either way... nice score!

Thanks CP, I'm satisfied with either of those two descriptions.
Cheers.
