Great plant !

I have sorted the extra posts Smile

I think Hanazono has a few of these. I'm sure I saw one in the background of one of his pics.

The stem of the flower kind of reminds me of the stem of a Gymno flower.

By the way, I love Cacti in the wild. I wonder how much weight that plant is holding from the rocks. Amazing.

Hello Juan great to have you posting on this forum. I am a big fan of your work with copipoa and eriocyce. Both genus are fast becoming popular here in Australia. I liked the habitat pics of the Yavia. They are very different from my pereskiopsis grafted ones. Recently the grafted plants have produced lots of pups around the tops and it looks like those flowers are self fertile. The pups seem to root down quite well too.

Hi everybody!

I'm new in this forum. My name is Miguel and I'm from Coahuila Mexico. I'm looking for Yavia cryptocarpa seeds or plants. If somebody have seeds maybe we can make an exchange. I have seeds of Ariocarpus scaphirostris, retusus retusus, retusus confusus, Strombocactus disiformis.

Thank's!

hello friends

cryptocarpa, I would like to see photos of the fruits of your Yavia.
In habitat they are so flat and/or sunken in the ground, with a very deep apex, so it is not so easy to check if they have fruit... and when they do have fruits, it is imposible to see or know if the fruit is "ready".
But I was lucky and I founded 19 seeds in one fruit! soon I hope to put some photos.

hola Arioboy, bienveniwelcome!

Yavia and Rebutia pygmaea

Here is a pic of the Yavia seed pods. Not so cryptocarpic when on a pereskiopsis graft. I am hoping they have viable seed. As you can see the plant has started to offset from the top and the flowers were on the offsets.

The plants on this thread are the only Yavia I have seen before.
Does anyone know if there are any other sp. in this genus?

Juan - Are these plants very common in Chile or are they endangered?

Hello KanJe

Yavia (for now) is only endemic of ARGENTINA. I'm from Chile, but I travelled aroung Argentina and I founded near the border with Bolivia, but for now Yavia its the only specie in that genus and it is only from Argentina
