Although it is in October, temperature is not high enough this year but some Gymno have started to be in flower.
I like the color of Gymnos' flower.
ambatoense

bozsingianum

gibbosum

I really like the ambatoense, has a really nice mauve colour in the throat of the flower.
With the gibbosum I've never seen Gymno flower look like this?

I'm not really familiar with these species, are any of these particularly fragile or slow growing?

KanJe
I think almost all Gymno can be grown easily.
If you gave strong sunlight, Gymno will be turned color as brown and stopped growing.
Gymno will grow well under soft sunlight.
Although I bought these 3 plants, I have many other plants, grown from seeds.
They will be in flower soon.

Nice plants and flowers there Hanazono.
I agree with KanJe, the flower colour of the G.ambatoense is quite nice.

You are correct. Petals are quite different and spines also.
I bought 2 plants from a supplier in NSW. 2 of them show same body apperance and same flowers.
I am not sure the origin.

I am not sure actual name but I have to believe suppliere's name tags.
More Gymnos were in flower today.
intertextum
I expected stronger spines but ----
The name tag said "intertextum".

schickendantzii
I also expected stronger spines but the apperarance was not likely.

saglione
A different name tag was attached but I think this is a saglione.

freindrichii
I propagated this from seed, called "black freindrichii".

The super vatteri is simply stunning. Spines look a bit like spines from a myrtillocactus.
How old are the last 2 plants?

Today was hot. The maximum temperature was 33 'c and inside of greenhouses were more than 60 'C.
Two gimnos were in flower.
Brown color gimuno is growing very slowly. This is a typical one, piltziorum.

Another super vatteri but this is a single spine form.
