| Hi all, I've got some Lophophora seedlings going at the moment, they're a few weeks old now. They seem to be stretching a bit, which I'm attributing to low light, but it isn't really all that dark where they are. What I'm wondering is whether this is normal, or whether I need to move them to a brighter location? Also, if moved, will they resume a more normal "button" shape, or stay stretched? The Trichocereus and Mammillaria seedlings I have in the same location don't seem to be stretching... Thanks. |

| How stretched are we talking here? On the rare occasions I've grown similar species from seed, they tend to look a bit elongated in their early days, but sort themselves out later on. |

| Tripsis I think your lophophora seedlings are elongated a bit and T. pachanoi seetlings too. But They are all good shape as a few weeks old seedlings. I use weak light during this period and force to elongate seedlings. Elongagted seedlings will grow faster than normal shape, I think. Hanazono |

| I let mine grow a bit tall too, it makes young seedling grafts much easier because you have more to hold on to and a greater area to work with. I'm not sure if they actually grow faster?
You don't have long to graft that albino seedling.....a few days at most. I will note they are extremely difficult to successfully graft. I think your best bet is to get them within 3 or 4 days of germination and attempt it then. Good luck. _________________ My Cacti Blog, please come visit me.

| Thanks for the replies. I'm not planning on grafting many, if any, at this stage.
If I introduce them to brighter light, will they take on a more normal shape? I would prefer not to have elongated plants if possible. |
