Is this a mamm bocasana? The photos on cacti guide are a bit small and it doesn't look similar but I am not 100% sure (and don't want to buy another one)
Yes it really does need repotting, Mum was looking after it and repotted it in a pasta bowl (does have a drainage hole though lol)

I think you're right. The usual form of bocasana has white/cream flowers but there is a form around these days called 'roseiflora' which looks like your plant....

Mammillarias.net has some pics.... I'd link it but the html link thing here sucks ! LOL

What a great website! Thanks, it does look like a bocasana, and it is quite old, so I was checking whether it will survive the garden or not

Hi Olga, yes that's definitely bocasana, and a beautiful old specimen too. the flower colour is quite variable, as is the density of the wool.
Here are some pics of forms that I have...

Wow, thanks for those CP! I see I have some more to get then .
I have just repotted that one, I had another old (and larger) mamm of a different variety suffer some terrible rot from the inside and I had to divide it and cut the rot out, so I am keeping a close eye on this one and have it in a nice big pot with plenty of room to water without getting it under the wool, hopefully it will settle in.

Olga, that's a real beauty. Do you know how old it is?

I would say about 8 Darren, that was one of my later ones when I was initially collecting.

I was moving some of my plants yesterday and noticed this one was also labeled as a bocasana, but I couldn't find a picture similar, does anyone know what it is?
