| I am always reluctant to discuss the electronic garage-sale, but this old bloke seems to be looking down the barrel...
Alas, I am interstate... any interested Victorians? |

| Im very interested, my dads interested, but its around 500km from where we are, the fuel cost and the effort to get it out of the planter box, if only we lived closer |

| it really is a great plant. cephalocereus are extremely slow growing so this specimen would be a fair age. I hope someone saves it |

| | Yeah, as soon as i saw it in the brick planter i thought removal would be difficult. I thought that if it came to it it might be more practical to cut all the stems off at the base and use them as cuttings, if that's the case i hope for the bidder it's easy to root Cephalocereus cuttings. |

| | MichaelCactus, if you hear of any going locally lets get together for a combined rescue! we have built a long carrier for tall heavy plants and have a bit of practise now at stacking smaller plants into crates.any avoiding the spines! Cheers. |

| Yeh thats what my dad said Lewis, but i think id rather the whole plant in one piece haha
Yeh sure Gracie, altho ive never heard of any going in Bendigo, usually theyre sold privately. We have a tandom trailer, so that might come in handy aswell. Haha avoiding the spines for me is impossible. |

| | Just go to be on the lookout! esp houses that go up for sale. the large ones we got were desined for the tip. we got a few sharps but mostly when there was a car accident accross the road and we got distracted. lucky I carry tweezers in my pocket.! and aloe spray in the car always!! found out that aerogard is good to take the sting out also. some of those larger plants are incredibly heavy. |

| Woo-hoo - there's actually a second bidder! Looks like there's more than one cactophile in SE Victoria after all.
I emailed the seller a while back to tell her of the Cactus & Succulent Society (in case it wasn't sold), and she said that one of the people interested was going to 'dissect' it if they won. I think that in translation it means that they're going to do some heavy cutting to move it. The seller wasn't thrilled at 'dissection', but it might be the only workable option unless they're hard-core specimen nuts.
I wonder how it will pan out... |

| For anyone who cares, the cactus went for $61. The first bidder caved in at $15, the third one went up in $10 increments from $20 to $60, and the second bidder, the intriguingly named Rubypython, obviously had a maximum bid over $61
Nice to see that there was some interest in it, and enough that it didn't go for a token $1.
I hope that Rubypython doesn't squeeze it too hard!
