Hmmm not sure I like where this trade thread is heading. I will leave it for now. As you were gentlemen...don't mind me.

I dont wanna rain on your parade cactihunter, it just seems to me that it would be a better idea if you just offered cuts in the other free trade thread. It has just been my experience that when such things are offered in a free trade thread more people seem to join in on the generosity and start giving away cuts of like value. Really i couldnt see this thread moving along very fast at all even if it did manage to go anywhere, sorta makes it hard having it echinopsis only, what about steno, pachy and cereus to name a few bigguns. Even then, not everyone likes columnars.
As for me, well i dont have much of interest to offer in thread like this ATM as all my columnars are goin to sleep for winter and there is no way i would take cuttings at this point in time.

perhaps we could 'see how she goes' for a while

I'm happy to do that.

But that means I gotta take a bunch of hylo seeds that I don't even want and give away another good cut

Have you considered offering something of a little less value? Cacti seeds, some nice Epiphyllum sp. cuttings with roots, nice cacti pups? I think you will get more interest on ACF with this kind of stuff. I think the Mexicans are probably the most popular so far and columnulars aren't that popular at all here as far as I can tell. I know of a few other forums that would probably lap this type of trade thread up...alot of the members of ACF are true cactophiles and thus mainly collect collectable miniatures as an example. I like to grow some Trichocereus/Echinopsis sp. they by no means dominate my collection though. The top of the ladder for me is Arios, Astros and other rare and collectable Mexicans.

A good idea would be to look through the members' profiles as it will usually state that members preferred cacti genera and species. I implemented this into the profile system early on so our members can be identified with the cacti they like and also to assist trades etc.
